Tim Fauley
Tim Fauley is a PhD student in Environmental Sciences at Wright State University and a researcher in the Data Science for Healthcare (DASH) Lab. His work explores how environmental conditions and task demands shape attention, cognitive flow, and mental fatigue, using wearable sensors alongside measures of performance and self-reported experience.
In the Lighting and Flow Study, Tim investigates how the color temperature and spectrum of room lighting affect focus, flow, and alertness during sustained mental work. He is also working on a multitasking and fatigue study supported by the Dayton Area Graduate Studies Institute (DAGSI). That project uses Tetris gameplay, concurrent arithmetic tasks, and wearable sensing to examine how task duration and competing demands relate to mental effort, fatigue, and performance. The research also explores whether physiological signals can help estimate cognitive load and performance.
Tim brings nearly three decades of experience in information technology consulting to his research, with a background in infrastructure, automation, and technical problem-solving. He also tutors students in STEM subjects. Outside his research and professional work, he enjoys spending time with his family, cooking, painting, and drawing.
